Defence Street is an independent online directory of the defence industry, built for people who need to find suppliers, products and decision makers quickly and then check what they have found. It covers Indian companies in depth and global companies that supply, partner or compete in the same categories.

The site is published by a small Indian team. We are a directory and publisher, not a broker, agent or reseller. We do not sell equipment, take a commission on any transaction, or represent any company in a procurement process.

What the directory holds

Defence Street is organised around three connected record types, each maintained as structured data rather than free text.

  • Companies - primes, tier one and tier two suppliers, MSMEs, defence public sector undertakings, shipyards, electronics and materials firms, MRO providers and service companies, each with categories, locations, certifications and product ranges. Browse them under Companies.
  • Products and systems - platforms, subsystems, components and services described with named specification fields, so that two records in the same category can be read against each other. Browse them under Products.
  • People - founders, executives, programme leaders, designers, analysts and other notable figures connected to the companies and programmes they are associated with. Browse them under People.

Around these sit editorial sections: news, analysis and explainers, and a calendar of exhibitions, conferences and seminars under Events.

Who the site is for

  • Buyers and procurement teams building a supplier long list, or checking whether a capability exists domestically before looking abroad.
  • Primes and system integrators looking for qualified partners, subcontractors and offset or indigenisation partners.
  • MSMEs and new entrants that need to be visible to the buyers and integrators already searching their category.
  • Journalists and researchers who need a fast, cited starting point on a company, a product line or a person.
  • Students, analysts and job seekers mapping the industry, its segments and the organisations inside them.
  • Event organisers and trade bodies reaching an audience that is already looking at this sector.

How listings are compiled

Records are built from three sources, and every record shows which one it came from.

  1. Public sources - company websites, published product brochures and datasheets, regulatory and corporate filings, official press releases and government or industry announcements.
  2. Company submissions - information sent to us by the company itself through List Your Company, or added by a company that has claimed its existing listing.
  3. Corrections - amendments sent by companies, readers and our own editorial team, which are checked before they are applied.

Before a listing is published, our editorial team checks that the company exists and is trading, that the categories fit what it actually does, and that specifications are traceable to a published source or to the company itself. A verified badge is applied only where a listing has been confirmed by an authorised representative of the company and the supporting details have been reviewed. It confirms the identity and the contact route, not the quality, capability or compliance status of the supplier.

Directory data ages. Specifications change, product lines are withdrawn and people move on, so every commercial or procurement decision should rest on information confirmed directly with the company. Please read the disclaimer before relying on anything published here.

What makes it different

  • Structured specifications. Products are recorded against defined fields for their category rather than as a block of prose, which makes them searchable and filterable.
  • Side by side comparison. Because the fields are structured, records can be placed against each other in the comparison tool and read row by row.
  • A people directory. Companies are linked to the individuals behind them, so a programme or a supplier can be understood through the people associated with it.
  • Generated rankings. Our Top 5 and Top 10 pages are produced from the directory data itself, so a list reflects the records in a category as they currently stand.
  • A free base listing. Any genuine defence sector company can be listed without payment. Paid promotion is available and is always labelled, and it does not change how a record is ranked or described.
