Any genuine company working in the defence sector can be listed on Defence Street. A standard listing is free, and it puts your company in front of buyers, primes and integrators who are already searching your category. This page explains what to prepare, how the process runs and what verification means.

Before you start

Have the following ready. It takes about twenty minutes to complete a good listing if the material is to hand.

  • Company details - registered and trading name, year established, ownership type, registered and works addresses, website, an enquiry email and phone number, and social profiles.
  • A company description - a short summary of what you make or do, and a longer description covering capability, facilities and the segments you serve.
  • Categories - the directory categories that describe what you actually supply, rather than everything you could conceivably do. Browse the structure under Categories.
  • Products and services - a name, a description and the key specifications for each item, with the units you use. Structured specifications are what allow your product to appear in filters and in side by side comparisons.
  • Certifications and approvals - quality and process certifications, registrations and licences relevant to your work, with reference numbers and validity dates.
  • Images - your logo on a plain or transparent background, and photographs of products or facilities that you own or are licensed to publish.
  • Key people - founders and senior leadership for the people directory, with roles and short biographies.

Send nothing classified, export controlled or otherwise restricted. Publish only what you would put in a public brochure.

The process

  1. Create an account. Register with your work email address. A company address helps us verify your listing faster than a generic mailbox.
  2. Search first. Check Companies for your name. If a record already exists, claim it instead of creating a duplicate.
  3. Complete the listing form. Enter your company details, choose categories, and upload your logo and images.
  4. Add products and people. Add each product with its specifications, then add the individuals you want profiled.
  5. Submit for review. Our editorial team checks the entry, may write to you with questions, and may edit for category fit, length and house style.
  6. Publication. Once approved, your listing goes live, appears in search and category pages, and becomes eligible for comparison and ranking pages.
  7. Keep it current. Sign in to update specifications, add products or correct details at any time. We review substantive changes before they appear.

What the free listing includes

  • A company page with your description, logo, categories, locations and contact details.
  • Product and service records with structured specifications, images and datasheet links.
  • Profiles for your key people, linked to the company record.
  • An enquiry form that delivers messages straight to your inbox, with a copy in your account.
  • Inclusion in search, category browsing, filters, the comparison tool and the automatically generated Top 5 and Top 10 pages.
  • A page written to be indexed by search engines, with your own links.
  • Access to your enquiries and basic listing statistics from your account dashboard.

Paid promotion such as featured placement, category sponsorship and sponsored articles is optional and is described under Advertise With Us. It never changes how a free listing is described or ranked.

Verification and the verified badge

Verification confirms two things: that the company exists and is trading, and that the person managing the listing is authorised to speak for it. We check the details you supply against public records and your official website, and we normally confirm the request from an email address on your own domain or through a contact route published by the company. Where that is not possible we may ask for a registration document or a letter of authority on company letterhead.

The badge is a statement about identity and authority only. It is not a quality mark, an audit, an endorsement or a compliance certificate. Verification lapses if the listing is abandoned or contact details stop working, and we may withdraw it if information proves to be false.

How long review takes

Most complete submissions are reviewed within a few working days. Listings with missing details, unclear categories or images we cannot confirm you have the right to publish take longer, because we come back to you first. You will be told by email when the listing is published or if we need more information.

Claiming an existing listing

Many companies are already in the directory because our editorial team built the record from public sources. If you find yours, open the company page, use the claim option, and sign in or register with an email address at the company domain. Once we confirm your authority, control passes to you and you can correct the record, expand it and add products and people. If the claim option is not available, or you need to transfer control from a colleague who has left, write to us through the contact page with the page address and your role.

Listings and submissions are subject to our terms and conditions, and personal data is handled as set out in our privacy policy.
