Militants attack air force base in central Pakistan

According to reports, the attack was claimed by Tehreek-e-Jihad, and the Army carried out a clearance operation, resulting in the elimination of the attackers.

On Friday night, a significant terrorist attack, which included suicide bombers, was reported to have targeted the Pakistan Air Force base in Mianwali in Northern Pakistan. Numerous videos depicting the attack were circulated on social media. According to Reuters, the Pakistan military confirmed the incident and stated that three assailants were neutralized in response to the attack. However, it was also reported that three attackers remain within the base, leading to an ongoing intense gunfight.

According to reports, the group affiliated with the Taliban known as Tehreek-e-Jihad has claimed responsibility for the attack. The attackers have been neutralized, and a clearance operation is currently in progress, as per the reports.

According to reports, the attackers reportedly used a ladder to breach the fenced walls of the airbase, and they were armed with the latest weapons. The attack resulted in the destruction of multiple aircraft parked within the Air Force base, as stated in the reports. The Pakistan Army has confirmed the occurrence of the attack and the extent of the damage; however, they have characterized it as a failed terrorist attack.

The Pakistan Army released a statement regarding the incident, which occurred on November 4, 2023. It described the attack on the Mianwali Training Air Base of the Pakistan Air Force as unsuccessful, thanks to the swift and effective response of the troops. This response ensured the safety and security of both personnel and assets. The statement further highlighted the exceptional courage and prompt action of the troops, who managed to neutralize three terrorists before they could enter the base, while the remaining three terrorists have been isolated due to the timely and effective response. Nevertheless, the attack did result in some damage to three already grounded aircraft and a fuel bowser.

A comprehensive joint clearance and search operation is in its final stages to completely secure the area. The Pakistan Armed Forces remain steadfast in their commitment to eliminating the menace of terrorism from the country, no matter the cost, as per the statement issued by the Pakistan Armed Forces spokesperson.
